Maritime Traces

With this project, we want to highlight Rostock businesses along the Warnow River, on our journey from the city harbor to Warnemünde. Among other things, you will see the shipyard facilities, the fish processing plant, our seaport, the navy, as well as many clubs that offer maritime leisure activities.

Hein Hannemann

Hein Hannemann, the lovable children's book character from Rostock-Warnemünde, wins the hearts of readers from the very first pages of this story. The blond boy with the cheeky mouth is known throughout the city, even though he's only five years old. With "Rüpel," his four-legged companion, Hein Hannemann experiences exciting, spooky, funny, and even dangerous adventures.

Klabautermann

A Klabautermann for the Hanse Sail, for the cosmopolitan and hospitable city of Rostock – for seafarers from all over the world, that's our Klabautermann! Thanks to modern electronic navigation on ships and ashore, today's Klabautermann has lost the myth of predicting shipwrecks. He is a good friend and patron saint of seafarers.

Hospitable Mecklenburgers

The "Hospitable Mecklenburgers" initiative looks back on a long tradition. Restaurateurs and hoteliers from Rostock and the surrounding area invite the sailors of the large and traditional ships during Hanse Sail to treat them to culinary delights from their establishments. Our international guests experience great appreciation for their visit to Rostock, as intercultural understanding with participants from different countries is just as important to us as the preservation of the traditional sailing ships.
