Over 1000 years of maritime history in Mecklenburg and Western Pomerania, encompassing shipping, port operations, ferry services, maritime tourism, and trade – a remarkable success story! Incidentally, the sculptor Margarete Scheel (1881-1969) described the core areas of the city over the centuries, albeit with modifications, as "trade, commerce, and shipping."
