- The MYCR regatta for the “Blue Ribbon of the Warnow” is taking place, as well as the 7th international seaplane meeting.

- 18th Hanse Sail from August 7th to 10th, 2008
- 230 ships from 13 nations.
- First voyage of the MIRCEA from Romania and the TVEKAMP AV ELBOGEN from Sweden.
- Seven cogs from three countries are visiting.
- The Minister-President of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Dr. Harald Ringstorff, describes the Hanse Sail as a "trademark of MV".
- Starsegler: CUAUHTÉMOC, ESPANIA und die GORCH FOCK.
- The GORCH FOCK celebrated its 50th birthday in 2008.
